We’ve just changed our news page to link to WordPress, and that would probably make us update our news more often! We haven’t updated our news page since 2007, cos we’re been busy with TV work for clients like Disney, CNN, BBH, Mediacorp Channel U, Singtel MioTV, BBC Channels and MTV. Next up, we’ll be uploading images of things we are working on, and cool stuff that we like!

Computer Arts has done a 4 page feature/interview on us. We have updated our site with new logos, and work done for MTV, BBC, the new Star Cricket Channel and Star Sports. We’ve also done a couple of spots for BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle, Cbeebies, movie promos for Channel U and TVCs for Razer.

Mad props to CG Magazine, China for doing a 8 page feature on us. Xavier has recently judged for 2007 Promax&BDA Europe awards, which was held in Berlin on 23-24 Apr. Our two illustrations for Tiger Beer has been published in the Tiger Translate RISE book, which will be exhibited in Berlin this year. New work: Animation and idents for Motorola and Audi, through Ogilvy & Mather and Discovery Travel & Living ‘World Cafe Asia – Bobby Chin’, MTV Azzaro TV spot and ESPN Star Sports commissioned us to design & animate its 2007 Formula One and Wimbledon Promos.

Some quickie news! We have just finished some idents for Ogilvy & Mather for their creative conference in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We’ve also done a Musical March ident for Nick JR London, and 2 commissioned illustrations for Tiger Beer, by IDN Magazine, Hong Kong, and CSI Season 7 Promos for AXN Channel. CRITICA has been profiled on the Jan/Feb issue of ASIA Image on the work done for the Animax Imagine-Nation campaign. See article here. Our work are being featured on PRO SPOTS at Xavier has been appointed to judge for 2007 Promax&BDA Arabia, happening in Dubai, Mar 26-27.

We have updated with new work: Ministry Of Sound ads for The Cannery@Clarke Quay and Cafe Del Mar@Sentosa,Show packages for Animax Technomax. We also animated some Xmas idents for TMF channel in UK, Animax Girls From Hell Campaign, compositing for a Sony TVC featuring DJ Aldrin, Jimmy Neutron promos for Nickelodeon, Girls Out Loud for Channel 5. AXN Shield wins another Gold at the Promax&BDA Asia conference, giving it a total of 3 wins!

We have updated with new work, Daniel Wu’s ‘Alive’, done for Animax Imagine-Nation Campaign. RESFEST SG 2006 has chosen two of our animations, Blassic and Imperfection, to be aired at the Screener Series, held at The Picturehouse, Cathay, on the 10-12 November. Also, we are involved in the Icon Chef Design Competition, presented by Getty Images at Velvet Underground on 12 Nov. Will be pairing up with James Khing, Ministry of Sound design honcho!

Ogilvy & Mather Singapore approached us to do their internal corporate video, showcasing their achievements and editorial coverage. The result is a animated 5min video of design and typography, cut to a rock track.
Our work for AXN & Discovery have won two awards from the New York Festivals 2006. Discovery Travel & Living ‘Open Ticket’, won a Bronze WorldMedal for the category, Information/Magazine Opener & Titles. AXN ‘The Shield Season 4: Tarot Cards’ won a Finalist Certificate for the category, Art Direction: Promotion Spot. We would like to thank Discovery’s Sari Trisulo and AXN’s Tracy Wong for the great collaboration!

CRITICA was commissioned to design and provide show packaging & graphics support for AXN’s inaugural MOVIE EVENT OF THE YEAR campaign. Working closely with senior producer Tracy Wong, a series of teasers, lowerthirds, channel bug and promos were created. In addition, we have also finished a series of promos for Nickelodeon. Check out our very first HDTV show package commissioned by Megamedia for Beyond The Edge – F1 Powerboats, showing in VOOM USA Network. We have also completed two show packages, Design For Life for Arts Central, and A Light Affair, for Channel 5, Mediacorp TV.

Congratulations to all the winners of the recently concluded PROMAX & BDA Awards conference. Heres the link to the winners list. Our client, DISCOVERY NETWORKS Asia, won a silver award for Best Logo Design for Open Ticket. Much thanks to Sari Trisulo of Discovery and BLACK DESIGN, for the creative partnership. Check out the Awards Logo, Packaging and Collaterals, designed by us. Some of CRITICA’s work were screened on the MDA booth during the recent RESFEST 2005 Singapore tour. Our recent work done for Discovery Channel were featured in the latest issue of Television Asia magazine. They are the Home & Health Idents and Turbo.

CRITICA has been commissioned by Australian ad agency HOST as part of two artists from Asia, to produce a 15 second film spot for TIGER BEER Australia. The spot will be run in arthouse cinemas in Australia between December 05 and April 06. Two of CRITICA’s work, DISCOVERY Home & Health Idents & AXN’s Shield Promo, were featured in the recent ASIA IMAGE magazine.

CRITICA did new work for ATTIK UK as part of the rebranding of CAMEL. The CAMEL Project HORECA features collaborations by 4 illustrators and 4 animators around the globe. Illustrators include Ray Smith and Vault49 from UK and the list of animators includes CRITICA from Singapore, Ramiro Torres from Ecuador, Ted Gore and Nextseason from USA. The 4 animations will be edited together to play in clubs in the whole of Europe.

CRITICA presents two videos, BLASSIC & INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS, at the opening exhibition of 72-13. 72-13 is an art gallery space, located beside the Tyler Print Institute at Mohammed Sultan Road, which primary purpose is to encourage collaborations between artists, house residences from artists around the world and to encourage hybrid creative expressions. BLASSIC & INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS will play on 15-17 September.

CRITICA has been invited by PROMAX BDA to be the official designer for this year’s conference, happening at The Arts House on November 28th-29th. The list of sponsors include Warner Bros, STAR TV, AUTODESK, BBC Broadcast and MDA. Check out the official website for more details.
